Baptism 101

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BAPTISM?

1. It illustrates Christ's burial and resurrection.

"Christ died for our sins... He was buried... and He rose again."
I Corinthians 15:3-4

"For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism
you were also raised with Christ."
Colossians 2:12

2. It illustrates my new life as a Christian.

"When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside.
The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!"
2 Corinthians 5:17

"By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in
order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead... so also we may live
a new life!"
Romans 6:4

Note: Baptism doesn't make you a believer - it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not "save" you, only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring - it's the outward symbol of the commitment you make in your heart.

Pastoral Care

"All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us." - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

  • Many times in life we encounter difficulties that seem overwhelming.
  • Many times we face decisions and are unsure how to best proceed.
  • Many times we need someone to help guide us in how to move forward according to God's principles.

That's why the church is here!

One-Year Reading Plan Through The New Testament

Join Rocky River as we read through the New Testament of the Bible in one year together! Imagine how much God can bless us as we read His word every day and have His infinite wisdom available to us as we live our lives.

"The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God's way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone."
2 Timothy 3:16-1

Note: We have copies of the New Testament available at our Resource Table on Sunday mornings. We recommend the New Living Translation, New International Version, New American Standard Version, English Standard Version, Living Bible and The Message.
