One-Year Reading Plan Through The New Testament

Join Rocky River as we read through the New Testament of the Bible in one year together! Imagine how much God can bless us as we read His word every day and have His infinite wisdom available to us as we live our lives.

"The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God's way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone."
2 Timothy 3:16-1

Note: We have copies of the New Testament available at our Resource Table on Sunday mornings. We recommend the New Living Translation, New International Version, New American Standard Version, English Standard Version, Living Bible and The Message.

So, what is the reading plan?
Basically, the plan is as simple as reading five chapters of the New Testament each week. Or, one chapter a day, Monday through Friday and take the weekends off. Here are some things to keep in mind as you read:

  1. Make reading the Bible a daily habit
  2. Read the Bible with a purpose in mind. Specifically, you should be reading the Bible in order to discover God’s will for your life.
  3. Study as you read (take notes).
  4. Put what you read into practice.
  5. Make prayer a part of your experience.

Here is the approach Pastor Jimmy uses (and recommends) as he reads and journals his way through the Bible. He uses the acronym S.O.A.P.

S = Scripture. Read the Scriptures (in this case a chapter of the New Testament).

O = Write down your observations. Don’t try to be overly spiritual. Just write down what you see.

A = Application. How can you apply what you’ve read? What is the particular passage from the Bible challenge you to do?

P = Pray. Pray that God will help you live out the things He has spoken to you through His Word.
